10.13 - thinking about Digger and The Social Reckoning. It's somewhat reassuring that contemporary films are able to be more tactful and sensible when it comes to the existential dread that most Gen-Z has (right? not just me?). Tho, these movies are still so behind in their meta-critique and/or commentary. The Social Reckoning tells you that Facebook and Instagram are harmful to teenagers - among other things - and still ends on some sort of promising note (p.s, this whistle was blown years ago and Meta didn't have to do anything about it)... Anyway, it just goes to show that old people, no matter how close they can get to really grasping how it feels to be a young person born post 2000s, they'll never be able to reflect that attitude in their art... sorry aaron sorkin
